Family Child Care Home
This is a license for caregivers to provide childcare in their own home for children ages birth to school age. Family Childcare Homes can be licensed as small homes with one provider and a capacity of 8 children and large homes with 2 providers and a capacity of 14 children. Childcare Center
This is a program that offers care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and/or school-age children all or part of the day in a facility that is not home based. These facilities may be large or small and can be operated independently by nonprofit organizations or for- profit companies, school districts, and other organizations. Help Becoming Licensed
The Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP) at Catalyst Community assists prospective family childcare providers in El Dorado and Alpine Counties. This support includes information about the steps to become licensed (Family Child Care Licensing Process, Resource and Referral Complaint Policies and Procedures), a pre-licensing support visit, ongoing technical support, educational opportunities, and how to get childcare referrals from our agency.
